9 Tips to Get Better at Battlefield 1

Follow these tips to improve your skills and become a better player in Battlefield 1.

Watch Where You Spawn

All too often in Battlefield 1, players fall victim to being spawn killed due to poor squad spawning. Most of the time, spawn kills can be prevented through vigilance and communication. Oftentimes, players are so eager to get back into the fight after being killed that they’ll spawn on whatever squadmate happens to be alive at the time. However, if that squadmate is not in an ideal position or has opponents closing in on them, there’s a good chance that spawning on that person will result in your death.

Before spawning on a squad member, look at the map to determine whether they are in a safe position. Spawn on teammates who aren’t too far from objectives, but who weren’t recently involved in a firefight. If you’re in a party with your squad, communicate with them to make sure the coast is clear before dropping into their location to prevent any unwanted surprises.

You can't spawn on a squad member while they're in combat, which helps prevent making a poor spawn choice. However, if you notice a squadmate in combat while you're at the spawn screen, think carefully before choosing to spawn on them, as they may still be in danger even after they're out of combat.

I beat the spawn system

This Battlefield 1 GIF features a pair of poorly-spawned enemy players who find themselves on the receiving end of a "limpet surprise". It's hard to tell if the second player intentially spawned on their squadmate or if it was random. Regardless, having a bit more awareness could have helped these players survive getting flanked by an opponent.
