Demon’s Souls
Dark Souls has become an unmitigated success for Bandai Namco and From Software alike, spawning the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Bloodborne for the PS4. Now that the cycle of Dark Souls has come to a close, what better time to look back at the game that launched an entire franchise and genre.
Demon’s Souls was where it all began back in 2009. After a rocky development cycle, Hidetaka Miyazaki came on board to help create the game that wasn’t yet Demon’s Souls, and that was already considered a failure by the company. Miyazaki took the reins and turned a failure into one of modern gaming’s greatest success stories by injecting his own vision and completely changing what was going to be delivered.
It’s been almost a decade since Demon’s Souls first launched in Japan, so it feels only right that, on the eve of its first 10 year anniversary, it receives a remastered version for the PS4. There would be a lot of Bloodborne players out there who would relish an opportunity to fight through the realm of Boletaria.
What PS3 games do you want to see brought to PS4? Maybe next time we’ll look back at PS2, and PS1!
