Quonset Gas Station - Coastal Highway
The Bad: It’s all bad. Sure, there are benefits on the inside, but when you leave, you will be jumped by no less than 43 wolves (actual number is three). Furthermore, there’s a bear who likes to wander down the mountain from the north and crap all over your yard. Even if you get out the door safely, there are predators waiting for you in almost every direction, making mainland living in Coastal Highway for the truly skilled survivors in The Long Dark. If you hope to get there, start by reading our survival tips.
The Good: The Quonset Gas Station in Coastal Highway is still one of the best bases in the game despite wildlife challenges. It has a bed to sleep in at night, a workbench to do your crafting, and loads of lockers for you to store all your gear in. There’s plenty of room to move around in there, and it has a front and back door so you can evade the predators when you exit. The walk to Desolation Point isn’t too bad, and there are houses all around you to scavenge for resources. If you don’t mind a few friendly wolf bites, it might be the perfect place to call home in The Long Dark.
