One of the first questions gamers have about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is how long it takes to beat. Based on our experience with the game, and the experience of other outlets with review copies, it looks like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake takes approximately 40 hours to complete.

In total, there are 18 chapters to play through in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the game as a whole is surprisingly long despite the fact that Square Enix plans to make it episodic. For added context, we’ve listed the names of all 18 chapters below.

Keep in mind that your overall completion time may vary depending on how you play, your previous experience with Final Fantasy, and whether you want to rush it or take your time. If you want to speed through the game, you’re looking at anywhere from 30 to 35 hours.

If you want to partake in all of the side quests and fully explore every area and aspect of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you could spend up to 50 hours or more in the game! It really depends on how you approach the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. For us, it took us around 38 hours to beat the game. We spent a decent amount of time exploring, but we also didn’t get to 100% completion. At least, not yet.

You can replay chapters of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, so if you think you missed something in a chapter, you’re free to go back and run through it again. We definitely plan to.
