To make fish bait in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need to craft it at a workbench using the following ingredients:

  • Manila Clam x1

Manila Clams can be found on any of the beaches of your island, but you’ll need a shovel. They don’t appear above the soil, instead showing their location with little spurts of water/sand that you’ll see shoot out of a hole. If you see this happen, run over and dig the place the small hole appeared to get a Manila Clam.

If this is the first time you’ve picked up a Manila Clam, your character will get an idea and gain the crafting recipe for fish bait.
