How to become Best Friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
While you can invite anyone to your island, there is also a Best Friends List. Becoming best friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will give your friends access to certain abilities on the island that randoms on the internet that you invite via Dodo code aren't allowed to do. It also lets you see when they're playing online in-game and in the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, allowing you to message them and invite them over more easily without having to go back to the airport and talking to Orville every time. To set up the Best Friends List and make someone your Best Friend, start out by heading there.
Head to Orville in the Dodo Airlines airport and ask to invite others to your island. He'll tell you about the Best Friends List and help you install it on your NookPhone. When you have it installed, to become Best Friends with someone you need to meet three criteria:
- Become friends on the Nintendo Switch console, by exchanging friend codes.
- Play together once by visiting the airport once it opens (usually after your first day on the island)
- Once you've visited each other on one of your islands, you can see them in the Best Friends app on your NookPhone.
- Choose to make them your Best Friend and now you can message them.
Best Friends can also use tools on your island that can change the look, or destroy it if they're not TRULY your best friend, so be careful who you give this power to.
