You’ll start picking up Tea Utensils as a rare loot drop once you’ve progressed far enough through Nioh 2’s story. Don’t such gorgeous items waste away in your inventory though. In Nioh 2 you need to get your Tea Utensils appraised.

To do this, you need to visit the Hidden Teahouse. This is a special shop you’ll unlock after the first mission in the third chapter of the story, which fans of the original Nioh will remember. It’s the place that charges Glory for actions instead of gold, though Tea Utensil appraisals are free of charge.

Take the Tea Utensils you find to the shopkeep at the Hidden Teahouse and he’ll asses them for you. Once this is done you can return to your Hut and decorate it with them to receive several different permanent stat buffs.

If you're looking to earn the Tea Connoisseur trophy in Nioh 2, you'll need to take 50 Tea Utensils to be appraised at the Hidden Teahouse, so be prepared to grind for more Utensils! Speaking of which...

As noted above, you’ll unlock the Hidden Teahouse in the first mission of the third chapter in Nioh 2. From this point onwards you’ll start to receive Tea Utensils as a rare drop from enemies. They should be very noticeable on the ground as they glow quite strongly.

The drop rate for Tea Utensils is very low, but you can increase it by taking any you already have to be appraised, then placing them in your Hut. Different combinations and positions of Tea Utensils will change the rates, but you can simply use the Recommended Placement setting to optimize your boosts.
