- Wait for Tom Nook to finish building your house.
- Visit your house and decorate it any way you like!
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll start out the game with a basic Tent and some essentials like a cot and a lantern. As you play through the game, you may find yourself itching to expand and improve upon your living space. In this instance, you’ll want to build yourself a house. The way this works in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is through the Home Loan program.
While pricey, the reward of building your own home overshadows the fact that it’ll cost you a whopping 98,000 Bells to do so. Fortunately, you’re able to pay back the loan in gradual increments at your own pace. You won’t have to fork over the entire 98,000 Bells at once. With the Home Loan process complete, Tom Nook will begin construction on your house.
Some of the added benefits to building a house – beyond the extra space and fancy design – include the home’s built-in storage system where you can stash items for later. You can also design every aspect of your house to your liking from wallpaper to where you place items. If you need even more space, there are expansions and remodels available that’ll let you grow your home from a tiny house into a grand cottage.
