When it comes to how to complete the Beached Narwhal quest, the most important element is understanding map locations in and around Quetzal in Temtem. In the image above, we’ve circled some of the locations you’ll visit as you work through the Beached Narwhal quests. The first step in completing the Beached Narwhal quests is asking the Guildmaster to repair the Narwhal.

The Guildmaster can be found in Quetzal inside the Smithing Guild building. Note that the Guildmaster isn’t the person behind the counter, but the one off to the right banging on an anvil. Next, you’ll need to buy some means of transportation from Akatzin. You can find Akatzin in Quetzal inside the Tamer’s Supply Shop.

After speaking with Akatzin, he’ll ask you to bring him a Toxolotl. Be warned that you won’t get the Toxolotl back after giving it to Akatzin. Toxolotl can be found in the Xolot Reservoir area. After catching one, make sure you add it to your Squad in order to transfer it to Akatzin. Once you’ve given Akatzin his Toxolotl, you’ll get your Surfboard back.

To use it in the Quetzal area, you’ll need to ask Sugey to acid-proof your Surfboard. Sugey is located in the Xolot Reservoir area outside of Quetzal. When you speak with Sugey, they will ask you to do a favor for them first. The favor is collecting two water samples from locations inside the Quetzal mines.

What’s nice is these areas will be marked on your map, so all you need to do is follow the quest markers and collect the samples. With the samples collected, return to Sugey and they will acid-proof your Surfboard. Now that you’re able to surf, you’ll need to track down the entrance to the Kakama Cenote.

Heading west from where Sugey is located, surf until you find a small island-like area. This is the entrance to the Kakama Cenote. Inside the Kakama Cenote, you’ll battle with your rival Max. Following this battle, you’ll need to collect the Idol as this is what’s used to reopen the gates to the Mines. Continue through the Kakama Cenote to use a back entrance to the Mines.

Follow the Mines until you reach the other side of the locked gates, then use the Shuine’s Horn to open the door. With the door open, you can head back to Quetzal and the Smith’s Guild and let the Guildmaster know that you’ve reopened the Mines. In turn, you’ll complete the Beached Narwhal quest line and can move on to the next series of quests in Quetzal.
