How to heal in Hunt: Showdown

Find out how to heal in Hunt: Showdown so you can keep you and your teammate's health as high as can be.

When you’ve got to battle not just hideous monsters but other players as well, it’s important to keep your health topped up. Hunt: Showdown may be a mean game, but it is possible to heal yourself if you’ve taken some stray zombie hits. The process can be a little confusing for new players, so we’ve put together the guide below which will teach you how to heal in Hunt: Showdown so you’re never caught out on low health.

Hunt: Showdown includes three main ways to heal: Medkits/First Aid Kits, Vitality Shots and Medical Stations. However, there are a few caveats to be aware of.

In Hunt: Showdown, your health is split into separate bars of value 50 or 25. You cannot heal a health bar chunk that has been lost through you being been downed (e.g. if you were shot by another player) or it was burned away. These can only be recovered by paying Upgrade Points for them after the match has ended.

You can heal damaged health bars (they appear as black) by using a First Aid Kit or Vitality Shot, but not bars you’ve lost completely. A First Aid Kit sits in your consumable menu, will heal one damaged bar of health (two if you’ve got the Doctor perk), and takes a while to use. You’ll have three uses per game, and they recharge between matches. A Vitality Shot is used much faster, will heal you completely and stop all bleeding effects. However, it’s a one-use item that you won’t get back after a match, so use it wisely.

To heal with a Medkit or Vitality shot, you need to first equip it, then ready the item (Right Click or Right Bumper) before using it (Left Click or Left Trigger). It’s similar to the clunky process required to aim down sights in Hunt: Showdown, so be sure to practice so that you can heal in a pinch when you need to.

You can also heal a teammate in the exact same manner with a Fire Aid Kit or Vitality shot if you are at full health. Ready the healing item while facing them, and use it just like you were healing yourself.

Finally, if you don’t have any Medkits or Vitality Shots, you can also heal by finding a Medical Station. There are several dotted around the maps, and you can find them by heading to the resupply points with a wagon symbol on your map.
