HyperX Esport Lounge Powered by Shacknews coming to Wizard World events in 2020

A slice of competitive gaming will arrive at conventions in 2020 thanks to Shacknews and HyperX.

Comics juggernaut Wizard Entertainment has partnered their Wizard World events with Shacknews, HyperX and Microsoft to bring the Esports Lounge to more events in 2020.

If you enjoyed watching the HyperX Esports Lounge powered by Shacknews at San Diego Comic-Con last year, we have some good news for you! Wizard World events across the US in Portland, Denver, Cleveland, St. Louis, Chicago and more will now feature the Esports Lounge, bringing a slice of competitive action to pop culture conventions. HyperX will be dishing out more prizes, with tournaments hosted on PCs and console provided by Microsoft.

At SDCC 2019, the Esports Lounge broadcast tournaments for games such as Apex Legends, Soul Calibur VI, Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat 11, with prizes from a range of companies such as HyperX available to anyone who was willing to step up to the plate. It’s a great way for casual con-goers to try their hand at competitive gaming without the pressures of a full tournament event. And hey, who doesn’t want to win a HyperX headset?

Over the weekend, the area had more than 4,500 visitors daily from SDCC 2019, with upwards of 750,000 also joining the Esports Lounge Stream online for a show of 40+ hours of content that featured pros and creators hopping on for a slice of competitive action.

“Shacknews is celebrating our 24th year of providing players with top-notch esports, gaming, and technology content," Shacknews CEO Asif Khan said about the upcoming events. "We are happy to join HyperX to help showcase our love of video games with their attendees.”

“We are excited to be bringing the HyperX Esports Lounge powered by Shacknews to gamers across the country, working with some of the largest and most unique shows and live entertainment environments,” said Daniel Kelley, Director of HyperX Corporate Marketing. “Our range of gaming products help all types of gamers enjoy gaming and we’re excited to partner with Shacknews and Microsoft for this Wizard World event. We appreciate working with a well-established part of the gaming community in Shacknews as they bring their content and gaming expertise to these events.”

The full run of events that’ll feature the Esports Lounge has yet to be announced, but we’ll be sure to dish out the schedules for each when they arrive so you know when to tune in and catch the action, or perhaps you’ll be heading to some of the Wizard World events yourself! We might even see you there. The 2020 Portland Wizard World convention takes place this coming weekend, January 24-26 at the Oregon Convention Center. You can find out more on the official Wizard World website.
