Greenlit Content to bring Esports Lounge to Wizard World events in 2020

Following success at San Diego Comic-Con.

Comics juggernaut Wizard Entertainment has partnered their Wizard World events with gaming content producer Greenlit Content (a division of ReKT Global) to bring their Esports Lounge to conventions throughout 2020.

If you enjoyed watching the Esports Lounge at San Diego Comic-Con last year, we have some good news for you! Wizard World events across the US in Portland, Denver, Cleveland, St. Louis, Chicago and more will now feature the Esports Lounge, bringing a slice of competitive action to pop culture conventions.

At SDCC 2019, the Esports Lounge broadcast tournaments for games such as Apex Legends, Soul Calibur VI, Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat 11, with prizes from a range of companies such as HyperX available to anyone who was willing to step up to the plate. It’s a great way for casual con-goers to try their hand at competitive gaming without the pressures of a full tournament event. And hey, who doesn’t want to win a HyperX headset?

Over the weekend, the area had more than 4,500 visitors daily from SDCC 2019, with upwards of 750,000 also joining the Esports Lounge Stream online for a show of 40+ hours of content that featured pros and creators hopping on for a slice of competitive action.

"The Esports Lounge at Wizard World is a great opportunity to provide attendees with a true esports experience,” said Bryan Dawson, Head of Esports at Greenlit Content. “With both competitive and casual gaming environments, including hourly tournaments with prizes, there's plenty of fun to be had for everyone."

The full run of events that’ll feature the Esports Lounge has yet to be announced, but we’ll be sure to dish out the schedules for each when they arrive so you know when to tune in and catch the action, or perhaps you’ll be heading to some of the Wizard World events yourself! We might even see you there. The 2020 Portland Wizard World convention takes place this coming weekend, January 24-26 at the Oregon Convention Center.
