How to get maps in Escape From Tarkov

Prepare yourself for your next match by learning how to get maps in Escape From Tarkov.

If you recently started playing Escape From Tarkov, you may find yourself wondering how to get maps for each area. Unlike games like PUBG, Escape From Tarkov starts players off blind. To give yourself an immediate advantage, you’ll need to get maps for each location before diving into a match. To help make things easier, we’ve put together a guide explaining how to get maps in Escape From Tarkov.

In Escape From Tarkov, maps are purchased rather than acquired organically through in-game play. Good news, you’re able to purchase a map for most areas in order to view things like Extraction Points. Bad news, you’ll need to make multiple purchases if you want to collect all of the maps in the game.

What’s more, you may need to purchase maps more than once as maps are required to be in your character’s inventory before loading into a match. For example, if you’re going to play a map on Customs, you’ll need to put the Customs map in your character’s inventory before starting the match.

To purchase maps in Escape From Tarkov you’ll need to select the “Trading” option from the main menu. From there, select the Therapist and examine her inventory to view and purchase maps. All maps can be purchased from the Therapist in exchange for Roubles. To purchase a map, first select the one you want such as Customs, Woods, or Shoreline.

Below, we've listed all of the maps currently sold by the Therapist in Escape From Tarkov.

  • Resort: 9,845 Roubles
  • Woods: 13,355 Roubles
  • Customs: 14,100 Roubles
  • Factory: 16,929 Roubles
  • Shoreline: 20,948 Roubles

After that, drag and drop a bundle of Roubles from your inventory on the right over to the area in the center that says you need Roubles to purchase the selected item. By dragging and dropping a Roubles bundle, you’ll provide the necessary amount of Roubles (if you have them) and will see a green check appear indicating you’re able to buy the item.

At the top, select “Deal” to complete the transaction. With a map purchased, you’ll be able to view it in your character’s inventory. Using the example above, if you bought a map for Customs you can view the map in your inventory though nothing will be marked on it just yet. Don’t worry. Simply drag and drop the map into your character’s inventory then load up a new match on Customs.

Before beginning the match, you’ll be able to view the Customs map with more details including Extraction Points. Again, if you die and lose your inventory you may need to continuously purchase maps from traders like the Therapist in Escape From Tarkov. One workaround we found is that if you have a PC with two monitors you can screenshot and save your map image, then remove it from your character’s inventory.

Then, open the screenshot on your second monitor and begin the match. In doing so, you’ll be able to view the map, but you won’t lose it from your inventory if you die during a match. It’s also easier in general to view the map that way versus having to constantly open it up during a match.

You can also view maps posted by other Escape From Tarkov players online and keep those open on a second monitor. We’re not saying you should do this when playing Escape From Tarkov, just that you can if you absolutely have to.
