How to get Secure Containers in Escape from Tarkov

Keep your loot safe by learning how to get Secure Containers in Escape from Tarkov and you'll make deaths less punishing.

In Escape from Tarkov, death usually means the loss of everything you hold dear. Carrying a sweet gun? Even a stray shot from a cheap pistol is enough to make you lose it for good. Unless you’re using a Secure Container, that is. These briefcases can hold items while you’re out and about in the Tarkov world, and even if you die their contents won’t be lost. Handy, right? In this guide we’ll teach you how to get Secure Containers in Escape from Tarkov so you can keep your most valuable goods safe.

There are currently five types of Secure Container in the game, with all players who pre-order starting with one Alpha Container. We’ll run through each of the other types below, but to start things off it’s worth noting that the easiest way to get a Secure Container in Escape from Tarkov — provided you have the money — is by purchasing the Prepare for Escape or Edge of Darkness special editions. Each of these comes with a Secure Container (increasing in size with each tier) that’ll help you out early in the game. Don’t worry if you’re not willing to pay for the bonus, you can still earn Secure Containers in-game. Here’s how to get each one:

  • Alpha Container (Size: 2x2) — Included in the Standard and Left Behind edition pre-orders. Sold by Level 3 Peacekeeper.
  • Beta Container (Size: 3x2) — Included in the Prepare for Escape edition pre-order. Sold by Level 4 Peacekeeper.
  • Gamma Container (Size: 3x3) — Included in the Edge of Darkness edition pre-order.
  • Epsilon Container (Size: 4x2) — Complete The Punisher - Part 6: Questline supplied by Prapor.
  • Kappa Container (Size: 4x3) — Complete the Collector quest from the Fence.

The only Secure Container that can’t be obtained in-game is the Gamme Container, though that may change in future. The rest are earned by unlocking higher levels of the Peacekeeper merchant or by completing certain quests.

To get the Epsilon Secure Container, you’ll need to complete The Punisher - Part 6. This quest is obtained from Prapor and can’t be started until you’re at least level 21. Work your way through the previous quests then, once you have the quest, you’ll need to kill several PMCs with an SVD before handing over PMC dogtags from various locations.

The Kappa Container is obtained by completing the Collector quest. This is a lengthy mission offered by the Fence merchant when you’ve completed all the other quests. In Collector you’ll be asked to find and deliver various unique objects from each of Tarkov’s levels. Expect this mission to take quite some time.

Earn yourself a Secure Container and any items that are in it when you die will not be lost as usual. There’s only small in size, but if you find something of high value, they can be well, not a lifesaver, but an item saver at least.

Now that you know how to get a Secure Container in Escape from Tarkov, you’re ready to head out and start on some missions. Before you do, feel free to check out these other guides for the game:
