It’s a new year full of new opportunities and new appearances from everyone’s favorite Exotic goods vendor in Destiny 2, Xur. For those new to the game, Xur appears every Friday at a randomized location in Destiny 2. When you find Xur, you can purchase Exotic items from him in exchange for Legendary Shards.
Because Xur’s location changes every week, it can be a real challenge to hunt him down, especially if you really want to buy Exotics. Fortunately, Xur tends to choose places to spawn that he’s previously visited. Additionally, Xur remains at his chosen location from Friday until Tuesday, giving you plenty of time to get your Legendary Shards in order.

Where to find Xur in Destiny 2 - January 3, 2020

In Destiny 2, Xur serves as an Exotic goods vendor who appears at random locations every Friday. While Xur typically cycles between areas he’s previously visited, it can be a real pain to have to travel to all of these potential locations in order to find him. Another thing that you’ll want to keep in mind when looking for Xur is that you can’t find him until Friday at 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST) or later.
If you arrive too early, you may miss Xur, even if you correctly guess his weekly spawn location. Once Xur finally appears in Destiny 2, he’ll stay put and sell Exotics to anyone with enough Legendary Shards on hand. Again, Xur will remain at his chosen location from Friday until Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST).
After Tuesday, you’ll need to wait until the following Friday at the same time to find Xur again. During the week of January 3, Xur can be found in the Giant’s Scar area of IO in a cave to the south of Terrabase Charon.

Starting on January 3, you can visit Xur at the location outlined above. At this location, you’re free to browse through Xur’s updated inventory of Exotic items, with Xur’s inventory refreshing each week. In Destiny 2, everything sold by Xur can be purchased with Legendary Shards, with most items priced at or around 23 Legendary Shards in total.
In addition to Exotic armor pieces for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans, Destiny 2 players can purchase one Exotic weapon from Xur along with a Fated Engram. Along with Exotic armor pieces like the Sanguine Alchemy, Xur has a Lord of Wolves available for purchase this week. The Lord of Wolves is always a fun Exotic shotgun to have in Destiny 2, especially if you’re a fan of the Crucible. That said, the Exotics are pretty average this week so there’s no harm in saving up your Legendary Shards and checking back in with Xur next week.
