Darksiders 1 and 2 are free right now on the Epic Games Store

Get Darksiders 1 and 2 along with Steep, Ubisoft's open world snowboarding sim, for free until January 9.

Picked up and enjoyed Darksiders Genesis recently? Open up the Epic Games Store and you’ll find a nice treat in the form of Darksiders 1 and 2, both of which are available for free at the moment, along with Ubisoft’s open-world snowboard/skii-em-up, Steep.

If you’re done scrolling through the Steam Winter Sale, you may be ready to look elsewhere for your top-notch gaming deals. The Epic Game Store is currently offering three games for no cost at all, which is a very tidy way to kick off 2020 if you ask us. Ubisoft’s Steep offers a massive open world of the alps, giving you the chance to scale snowy mountains before sliding speedily down them with your friends. However, it’s the Darksiders titles that are of real interest here.

The original Darksiders feels a little dated graphically these days, but War’s journey through the Apocalypse-ravaged earth is still a solid and enjoyable hack-and-slash title that’s well worth picking up, especially when it’s being provided at no cost at all.

Darksiders 2 took a turn for the Zelda, letting players explore dungeons and solve puzzles in-between battles. It also swaps control from the perpetually grumpy war to the much more enjoyable boots of Death, leader of the four horsemen. It’s a surprisingly lengthy, enjoyable affair which dives more into Norse mythology than the heaven and hell of the original.

The offer includes the Warmastered Edition of Darksiders, and the Deathinitive Edition — yes, they really did try to do that — of Darksiders 2, granting the full gamut of the DLC additions each game offered. You can grab them both, along with Steep, by heading over to the Epic Game Store website. The offer stands until January 9, so you’ve got a full week to make sure you don’t miss out.
