10 new games we can't wait to play in 2020

The year ahead is looking bright for gaming - these are our top picks for what's to come in 2020.

4. Roller Champions - Early 2020

The surprise star of E3 2019 for us, Ubisoft’s Roller Champions sees you screeching around a Roller Derby ring in teams of three, with each loop completed adding points to your next score. It’s one of those bizarre, niche sports games that, like Rocket League, somehow just works in video game form. Teaming up with a mate to plan passes and intercepts during 2019’s beta was a blast, and left us itching to get back on the track this year.

5.Doom Eternal - March 20

The revival of Doom in 2016 was an absolute riot, offering one of the best combat loops of the decade as we blasted and ripped our way through the hordes of hell. We’ve now had a nice long holiday from the fiery depths, and could quite go for a return trip if we're being honest. Thankfully Doom Eternal looks ready to provide just that, even generously adding a new grappling hook and sword to let us get up close and personal with our cacodemon friends. We can easily imagine returning to Doom Eternal throughout the year as a cathartic reprieve from the heavy narratives of other releases.

6. Resident Evil 3 - April 3

When Leon and Clare’s return in Resi 2 blew us away in early 2019, we knew a remake of Resident Evil 3 was on the cards. However, we never suspected it’d be only a year’s wait until Jill and Carlos would step out into Raccoon City once more. With how well received the Resi 2 remake was, the new game has large, Mr X size boots to fill. Judging by the early footage we’ve seen though, the freshly revamped Jill Valentine and Nemesis will be battling each other fiercely as they step up and stake their claim. Did we mention that Resident Evil 3 also comes with the Resident Evil Resistance multiplayer mode for free?

7. Cyberpunk 2077 - April 16

The Witcher 3 was one of the best RPGs, and probably best games of the last decade. CD Projekt Red’s next title, Cyberpunk 2077, could be the game to dethrone it. Taking out of medieval fantasy and into the seedy lights of Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 is comfortably one of the most anticipated titles of 2020, and it’s not just because it features Keanu Reeves with a bionic arm.
