1. The Last of Us: Part 2 - May 29

Having only played The Last of Us Remastered last year, we can only imagine how tough the wait has been for those who experienced Joel and Ellie’s tale when it originally released back in 2013. Come 2020 and all of us will finally get the chance to set forth on the next stage in their journey, and oh boy does it look good. Tense, brutal combat, smooth contextual actions, and the hefty weight of unresolved storylines. The Last of Us: Part 2 is shaping up to be something quite special, and at this stage we’re simply counting down the days until May 29.

2. Half-Life: Alyx - March 2020

If you’re lucky enough to own a compatible VR headset, 2020 is looking like a groundbreaking year already. We haven’t had a new Half-Life game for over 10 years and, we’re going to be honest, we didn’t expect to ever see one again. As a full, feature-length game with impressive voice acting, physics and interaction, Half-Life: Alyx could be the big VR title, especially when played with the Index’s unique grip controllers. It’s not a continuation of the story we left all those years ago, but we’re still oh-so eager to return to City 17. Now Valve, you will give us a gravity gun in VR, won’t you?

3. Dreams - February 14

Dreams 2020 video games to look forward to

Media Molecule’s Dreams continues to impress us through the sheer breadth of experiences it offers. Or perhaps we should say Media Molecule’s fanbase continues to impress us, as after all this is a game that lets its community create the content. Dreams’s various betas have produced art museums, shooters, recreations of iconic towns, RPGs, platformers and, well, we could go on for some time. Forget living our own dreams, we want to enjoy everyone else’s.
