- To get your first Master Ball, earn all eight badges and beat the Champion Cup. After the credits roll, an NPC will reward you for your efforts with a Master Ball.
- To get a second Master Ball, participate in the daily Loto-ID. If you match 5 or more Loto-ID numbers, you have a chance to receive a Master Ball as a prize.
Similar to other Pokemon titles, you’ll need to progress through Pokemon Sword and Shield until you beat the main campaign. After that, you will receive your first Master Ball. To elaborate further, you need to accrue all eight badges and beat the Champion Cup.
Once the end credits are done, you’ll be returned to your room in Postwick and will have the ability to dig into post-game content like completing your PokeDex (if you haven’t done so already). To pick up your Master Ball, head out of your room and speak with the new NPC who’s arrived.
By speaking with them, you’ll receive a free Master Ball. Pretty straightforward, right? What’s interesting about Pokemon Sword and Shield is that you actually have the chance to score a second Master Ball, though it can be a real pain in the rear to do so.
To get the second Master Ball in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll need to participate in the daily Loto-ID. To access the Loto-ID, simply interact with a Rotom PC (found in every Pokemon Center). Through the Loto-ID, you’re able to win prizes with drawings based around the ID number of the Pokemon held in your boxes.
Match the winning number, win a prize. The more Loto-ID numbers you match, the better the prizes you’ll receive. One of the best prizes? A Master Ball, though it’s also one of the hardest prizes to earn. To earn the Master Ball as a prize, you’ll need to match 5 or more Loto-ID numbers. To increase your odds of winning, you’ll want to catch as many Pokemon you can and store them in your box.
