The Galar region of Pokemon Sword and Shield is huge, making it hard to quickly travel between areas. To help speed things up, players are given the ability to fast travel relatively early on in the game. Of course, using fast travel can be confusing at first. To help, we’ve put together a guide explaining how to fast travel in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
How to fast travel in Pokemon Sword and Shield
- Unlock Flying Taxi by speaking with a man along Route 3 outside of Motostoke.
- Use Flying Taxi by opening your map from the X menu and selecting a location.
- Note you can only use Flying Taxi to travel to areas you’ve previously visited.
To fast travel in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you’ll first need to unlock Flying Taxi. To do this, make your way through the game until you reach the town of Motostoke. In Motostoke, you’ll want to pay a quick visit to Motostoke Stadium and learn about the Gym Challenge. In doing so, you’ll be able to explore Route 3.
Along Route 3 outside of Motostoke, you’ll spot a man hanging out, minding his business. When you speak to him, he’ll kindly give you Flying Taxi while also explaining how it works. With Flying Taxi in your possession, you can use fast travel to areas you’ve previously visited.
Using Flying Taxi is relatively simple in that all you need to do is open your map from the X menu, then select the location you want to travel to. Again, you can only use Flying Taxi to fast travel to areas you’ve previously visited.
To expand your Flying Taxi options, you’ll want to make your way on foot (or with the help of the Bicycle) to all of the towns in and around the Galar region. The more towns you visit in Pokemon Sword and Shield, the more efficient your Flying Taxi system will become!
