The quick answer to the question of whether you can fast travel in Shenmue 3 is technically no, you can’t. Not in the traditional sense anyway. In Shenmue 3, gamers have the ability to “Jump” to different points whenever they receive the “Jump” prompt.

For example, you can use the Jump feature to travel back to Shenua’s house, or the location of an objective. Keep in mind that you can only use Jump to “fast travel” when the option is presented to you. As of the time of this writing, there doesn’t appear to be a way to manually call up the Jump feature.

Despite not being able to open your map and fast travel from one point to another on a whim, the Jump ability is presented often enough to save you the time of having to trek all the way back to Shenua’s house before moving on to the next task for example. It’s easy to tell when Jump is available to you as a small icon indicating the act of jumping will display in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Whenever you see this icon, you can activate Jump by pressing Triangle on PlayStation 4, then use your d-pad to indicate where you’d like to jump.

Now that you know whether you can fast travel in Shenmue 3, we’re eager to hear your thoughts on the game. Are you loving Shenmue 3 so far, or are there things you wish they’d done differently? Comment below!
