How to make BB stop crying in Death Stranding

The quickest way to soothe your crying BB in Death Stranding.

Death Stranding has a few weird mechanics for players to master, including the ability to soothe your portable buddy, BB. While you typically won’t have to do this as BB is content to tag along, helping you spot nearby BTs, there are instances that will cause BB to cry. To help you ease BB’s distress, we’ve put together a guide on how to make BB stop crying in Death Stranding.

  • If BB is crying, you’ll need to press L1, down on your d-pad, and then square to pick BB up.
  • With BB in your arms, gently move your controller up and down to rock BB.
  • When BB stops crying, attach him back to your suit by pressing square.

In Death Stranding, you have a portable “fetus in a jar” companion called BB who tags along with you wherever you go. Not only will BB keep you company, he’s important to have around as he has the ability to spot nearby BTs, helping you avoid them as you make deliveries. For the most part, BB is content and quiet. You may even forget he’s there.

However, there are certain things that will upset BB and make him cry. For example, if you’re scaling a mountain and take a nasty fall, you might scare BB. When BB begins to cry, the best way to get them to stop is by picking them up and gently rocking them. To do this, you’ll need to press the L1 button, then down on your d-pad.

Finally, press square to cradle BB. With BB in your arms, gently move your controller up and down to rock BB. After a few seconds of you doing this, your BB should stop crying. With BB quiet, go ahead and attach him back to your suit by pressing square, then continue walking to your next objective.
