First, you can turn your engine off and back on again in Need for Speed Heat should the need arise. In a race, this isn’t exactly something you want to do. However, if the police are chasing you, they’ll continue chasing you even after your race is over. To fully end your race so you can queue up another, you’ll need to shake off the police.

While outrunning them obviously works, so does turning your engine off and blending in with other cars as a form of deception. To turn your engine off, you’ll want to press LB + X on Xbox One or L1 + Square on PlayStation 4 once your car has come to a full stop. The best way to do this is to try and look for a place with parked cars (avoid event areas as the input won’t work there), then brake and park your car beside them.

Once you’re fully parked, use LB + X on Xbox One or L1 + Square on PS4 to turn your engine off. After that, wait to see if the police are fooled.
