Nintendo targets 20 Million Switch shipments

In the next fiscal year.

Nintendo has announced a new target of 20m Switch units to be shipped in the next financial year.

The Switch has come off the blocks well with an impressive 10 million units sold within the first nine months, and Nintendo hope to keep that success going. Speaking with Kyoto Shimbun, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima stated that the company have set a goal of a further 20 million units in the financial year ending March 2019.

Nintendo’s original estimate of 10 million for their launch year was later improved to 14, and Kimishima wants to do even better in the coming year, with big titles helping to propel the console further.

Following up on a year which gave us both Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey is going to be tough, but Nintendo still have a large base of classic titles to draw from. With Metroid Prime 4 on the way other other titles in the works, they might just be able to meet such a lofty goal.
