Can you explore locked planets in The Outer Worlds?

Whether you can fly to and explore the locked planets present in The Outer Worlds.

You can explore a multitude of diverse locations in The Outer Worlds, with the exception of four “locked” planets. When viewing your map, you’ll be able to fly to planets like Monarch and Terra 2 as needed as you work your way through the campaign. However, the locked planets are a bit different. To get you up-to-speed, we’ve put together a guide addressing whether you can explore locked planets in The Outer Worlds.

The quick answer to the question of whether you can explore locked planets in The Outer Worlds is no, you can’t. At least not right now. During our time in The Outer Worlds, we’ve uncovered secret areas within explorable planets and have interacted with just about everyone, but we haven’t been able to scrounge up access to the game’s locked planets.

In The Outer Worlds, there are four locked planets that appear on your Halcyon map, but cannot be interacted with, accessed, or explored. Below, we’ve listed all of the locked planets in The Outer Worlds for reference.

  • Hephaistos
  • Typhon
  • Erydan
  • Olympus

Again, nothing you do in The Outer Worlds will give you access to any of these planets. Our guess for why they’re included in your Halcyon map is that Obsidian plans to release DLC for the game that centers around one or more of these locked planets. Until that DLC is released, it’s best to ignore these planets and focus your efforts on available locations like Monarch as there’s plenty to do and explore.

Stay tuned, as we’ll be updating this guide as new information regarding the four locked planets in The Outer Worlds becomes available.
