What money is for in Luigi's Mansion 3

How to spend money, or save it for a better score at the end of Luigi's Mansion 3.

In Luigi’s Mansion 3, you’ll collect an obscene amount of money as you vacuum up everything in sight around you. When looking at the sheer amount of money you’re collecting, you may find yourself wondering what this money is used for. Can you buy items with it, or does it have a special purpose outside of using it for purchases? It’s a bit of both. To explain, we’ve put together a guide addressing what money is used for in Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Similar to previous Luigi’s Mansion titles, you’ll be able to suck up coins, gold, and cash in Luigi’s Mansion 3. In each room, you have the ability to find money by interacting with all of the objects around you, defeating ghosts, and opening up secret areas. The more money you collect, the more the question of what this money is used for will pop up.

First, you can spend the money you collect in Luigi’s Mansion 3, though the option will not be presented to you until you retrieve the elevator button. With this step done, return to E. Gadd's laboratory and interact with him to be introduced to the Shopping Network feature. When in E. Gadd’s lab, you’ll be able to purchase items from the Shopping Network.

Below, we’ve listed some of the items you can purchase from the Shopping Network in Luigi’s Mansion 3.

  • Gem Finder ($1,000): A mysterious cartridge that will reveal Gem locations on your map. Each Gem Finder cartridge reveals a single Gem.
  • Boo Finder ($1,000): A mysterious cartridge that will reveal Secret Boo locations on your map. Each Boo Finder cartridge reveals a single Secret Boo.
  • Gold Bone ($1,000): Purchase the Gold Bone to have Polterpup revive you in the event your health drops to 0. Can only be used once.

The items available for purchase are totally optional, and give you little bonuses that can help you as you work to complete every aspect of Luigi’s Mansion 3. We recommend not spending too much money on items for sale via the Shopping Network as money has a secondary purpose in Luigi's Mansion 3.

At the end of the game, you’ll be graded, with your total amount of money directly relating to the final grade you receive. The more money you have, the higher the grade you’ll receive. It seems like it’s possible to purchase items from the Shopping Network while also retaining enough to receive a high grade at the end of Luigi’s Mansion 3 as long as you put the work in.

All you need to do is take your time exploring each area, interact with every possible item, avoid taking damage when fighting against enemies, and so on.
