  • To fast travel, open the main menu using View on Xbox One, the Touchpad on PlayStation 4, or ESC on PC.
  • Tab over to “Map” and move your cursor over the location you wish to go. Note that you have to discover an area before you can fast travel to it, with previously discovered areas marked in blue. Not all areas support fast travel.
  • Select the area using A on Xbox One, X on PlayStation 4, or left-click on PC.
  • Select again to confirm.

In The Outer Worlds, players looking to learn how to fast travel will have the opportunity to test out the mechanic after they discover Edgewater. Note that you can fast travel to most key areas that you’ve previously discovered in The Outer Worlds, which helps save time if you need to backtrack for a quest. Previously discovered areas will be marked in blue, while undiscovered areas will remain orange.

You can’t fast travel to all areas, with enemy outposts marked on your map but not available for fast travel. An example of fast travel includes moving between Edgewater and your ship, The Unreliable. Other examples include fast travel between Edgewater and Botanical Gardens as you agonize over who to divert power to.

To use fast travel, you’ll need to open the game’s main menu using View on Xbox One, the Touchpad on PlayStation 4, and ESC on PC. From there, tab over to “Map” and move your cursor over where you want to go. If you’re in Botanical Gardens and need to get to Edgewater, hover your cursor over Edgewater, then select the town by pressing A on Xbox One, X on PlayStation 4, or left-click on PC.

Press this button again to confirm your selection and you’ll begin the fast travel process which includes looking at a pretty loading screen for a few moments before you arrive at your destination. Fast travel only works on the planet you’re currently on. To move to a different planet, you’ll need to unlock that ability on your ship, The Unreliable, then interact with ADA and select a planet to travel to. Once on that planet, you can discover locations and use fast travel between them in the Outer Worlds.
