  • Cast your Fishing Rod line using RT on Xbox One, R2 on PS4, or Left-Click on PC.
  • Pull your Fishing Rod line back in using RT on Xbox One, R2 on PS4, or Left-Click on PC.

In Fortnite Chapter 2, the main question is how to fish, though there are a few things you’ll need to pick up before you go fishing. Namely, a Fishing Rod. Located in various areas throughout the new map, you’ll need to find a Fishing Rod and add it to your inventory before you can fish. We found a Fishing Rod in a Chest within the large building at the center of Eye Land, though we’ve also seen them around other landmark areas like Land Canoe.

With a Fishing Rod added to your inventory, you’ll want to equip it, then head over to some water. In the water, keep an eye out for small, circular patches of surface disturbance that indicate fish and/or items can be caught in that specific area. When you fish, you have the chance to catch a Slurpfish, a Flopper, a weapon, or assorted materials.

To cast your line, you’ll want to press and hold RT on Xbox One, R2 on PlayStation 4, or Left-Click on PC. As you hold, you’ll see a directional guide showing you where your line is going to land. Make sure you aim for the center of the water disturbance. With your line in the water, you’re going to want to wait until you see the line jerk, then pull your line back in using RT on Xbox One, R2 on PS4, or Left-Click on PC.

If you caught something, it’ll add to your inventory. If your inventory is full, it’ll land in front of you and you can decide whether to pick it up, swap items, and so on. If you caught nothing, you’ll need to re-cast your line and try again. The key to fishing in Fortnite Chapter 2 is to grab a Fishing Rod early on, then find a quiet area free from enemies to cast your line.

Look for surface disturbance indicating a higher catch chance, then cast your line using RT, R2, or Left-Click. Wait for the line to jerk, then pull back in with RT, R2, or Left-Click. Repeat the process as needed. With a little practice, you’ll be a Fortnite fishing master in no time!
