Utah Jazz's Rudy Gobert invests in ReKTGlobal

A slam dunk for ReKT.

It’s not unusual for basketball pros to take an interest in video games, particularly when it comes to the esports scene. The latest example of this is Rudy Gobert who plays Center for the Utah Jazz. Recently, it was announced that Rudy Gobert will partner with ReKTGlobal as an investor, further supporting ReKT’s position as a leader in esports.

The announcement that Rudy Gobert is joining ReKT Global as an investor was first made by esports team Rogue on social media. With ReKT Global as their parent company, Rogue has cemented themselves as a dominant force in esports, regularly placing in the top 5 in tournaments like DreamHack.

Founded in 2016, ReKT boasts investors from all walks of life including musicians like Steve Aoki and Imagine Dragons as well as Fortnite stars like DrLupo. Because of this, it’s not unusual to hear a basketball superstar has decided to join their ranks. Although, it’s certainly notable as Rudy Gobert represents the first sports athlete to invest in ReKTGlobal.

Rudy Gobert is known for his Center position on the Utah Jazz, and for representing the French national basketball team in international competitions. During his career, Gobert has acquired numerous accolades, like winning back-to-back NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2018 and 2019.

As ReKT’s latest investor, he’ll help buoy the company’s global expansion and support teams like Rogue via strategic partnerships. Touching upon why he’s decided to invest in ReKTGlobal, Rudy Gobert comments on his lifelong love of gaming and his interest in esports.

“My passion for gaming is well-known among both the Utah Jazz and my team in France. I’ve wanted to invest in and get more involved in esports for a while, and I’m really excited to make history with the ReKT Global family,” Gobert explained.

“For years now, I’ve used gaming to unwind and relax during the season. It’s also how I manage to keep up with my friends when I’m on the road. I’m especially looking forward to playing with the new Call of Duty franchise team before they begin competing next year.”

Addressing their latest investor addition, co-founder of ReKT Global, Amish Shah, remarked on why Rudy is such a phenomenal fit.

“A passionate and longtime gamer, Rudy also brings a strong business acumen and fresh ideas to the table. As he’s been wanting to invest in esports and get more involved in the gaming industry, we are honored that he selected ReKT Global to partner with, and we are excited to have him on board as our first traditional professional sports athlete.”

Overall, we’re excited to see more basketball pros take an active interest in gaming and esports. We’re also excited to see what comes next from ReKTGlobal and Rogue, as they’re certainly a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the esports scene as a whole.
