Are there AI teammates in Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

Addressing whether solo players can use AI teammates in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

In previous Tom Clancy games, you were given the option to play solo and enlist the help of AI teammates. If you’re expecting something similar in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we have good and bad news. Ok, mostly bad. To address the strange changes made by Ubisoft, we decided to put together a quick guide explaining whether there are AI teammates in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

As of the time of this writing, there’s no way to play with AI teammates in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. While this feature was available in previous Tom Clancy titles, it’s noticeably absent in Ghost Recon Breakpoint at launch. Additionally, cross-play is not supported right now either, limiting the people you can play with to those gaming on the same system as you.

You can still play Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint solo, but you may have difficulty working your way through certain tasks – like acquiring the blueprint for the SC-20K ASR – when you’re on your own. As a whole, co-op will make your time in Ghost Recon Breakpoint easier, but again, you’re limited to playing with friends on the same system. At least, until cross-play is added in via post-launch updates according to developers at Ubisoft. Likewise, AI teammates will reportedly be added to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint at a later date.

“We’re still working on the AI Teammate implementation,” Ubisoft noted in a blog post. “We’ll have more to share with you later in Year 1. Keep an eye out for updates along the way!” It’s interesting that Ghost Recon Breakpoint would launch without cross-play and without AI teammates, despite having an expansive microtransaction system available.

Of course, we’re curious to hear your thoughts. Do you feel Ubisoft made a mistake launching Ghost Recon Breakpoint without AI teammates and cross-play, or are you ok with it as long as they make good on their promise to incorporate these things in post-launch updates? Comment below!

Now that you know whether there are AI teammates in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, be sure to read through our previous guides where we explain the lack of cross-play in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and how to get the SC-20K blueprint in Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
