The short answer to the question of whether Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint has cross-play is no, it does not. The only way to play with your friends in Ghost Recon Breakpoint right now is to add them and play on the same system. If both you and your friend own a PS4, you’ll both want to purchase a copy of Ghost Recon Breakpoint for PS4, and so on.

There is a bit of good news on the subject, as it sounds like cross-play may not be entirely out of the realm of possibility for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Recently, developers at Ubisoft touched upon the subject of cross-play, noting plans to add it through post-launch updates alongside things like new Episodes and a new Class. Even though we weren’t given a timeline for these additions, it’s nevertheless reassuring to hear the developer’s intent to add cross-play at some point.

“We have big plans for post-launch. So there will be plenty of Episodes, a new Class, everything,” Creative Director of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Eric Couzian, told MMORPG.com. "Of all the subjects, this one, cross-play, is part of them. So you will get news later on this.”

To recap, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint does not support cross-play as of the time of this writing. In the future, developers at Ubisoft have indicated plans to add it via post-launch updates along with new pieces of content for the game. Until then, the best way to play with your friends is for all of you to game using the same system.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia.

Now that you know whether there’s cross-play in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we’re curious to hear your thoughts. Do you think the game should have launched with cross-play support, or are you just happy that it’ll be added through future updates from Ubisoft? Let us know down in the comments below!
