You can opt out of PC crossplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Console players won't be forced to play with PC players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In previous announcements, Activision and Infinity Ward revealed details regarding crossplay features in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Thanks to these crossplay features, players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC will be able to play together. Given that PC players using a mouse and keyboard may have an advantage over their console counterparts, it makes sense that there’d be apprehension regarding crossplay. Fortunately, it seems you’ll be able to pick and choose which crossplay features you enable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Infinity Ward confirmed today that crossplay will be fully customizable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. All multiplayer modes will offer crossplay support and all modes, maps, and missions will be released simultaneously across all three platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC). To take advantage of crossplay features, you’ll need a COD Account set up.

With this account, you can throw your hat into the crossplay ring however you like. Among the customization features available, players will reportedly be able to opt-out of crossplay with certain platforms. For example, you can opt out of crossplay with PC players using a keyboard and mouse if you’re playing on console with a controller.

Say you’re using a console on PC, you can also partake in crossplay with consoles as part of controller-only lobbies, so PC players won’t be left out of the crossplay mix simply because of their platform choice. According to Infinity Ward, console players have the option to use a keyboard and mouse with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, allowing them to opt-in to the list of keyboard and mouse lobbies as well.

Offering these customization options will undoubtedly help players take full control of their experience. It also levels the playing field for everyone else. No one will have an advantage simply because they’re using a mouse and keyboard on PC. After hearing that crossplay will be customizable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, what are your thoughts? Will you tailor crossplay to your personal preferences, or will you choose to play with everyone regardless of platform? Let us know down in the comments below!
