Tetris 99 has begun hosting Maximus Cup events on a regular basis, during which participants can earn prizes including in-game themes. Previously, crossover events for titles like Splatoon 2 and Fire Emblem: Three Houses were available. Now, in celebration of the recent release of Super Kirby Clash, Tetris 99 players can unlock a brand new theme by participating in the latest Maximus Cup event!

The next Maximus Cup event for Tetris 99 will go live on Friday, September 20 and will run until Monday, September 23. During this time period, Tetris 99 players will have the opportunity to unlock a special theme based around the new free-to-start Nintendo game, Super Kirby Clash. To unlock this theme, players will need to earn at least 100 points before the event ends.
The higher your placement at the end of each Tetris 99 match, the more points you’ll earn, with a 1st place victory instantly netting you 100 points along as well as the new theme. What’s more, you’ll also be able to earn 99 Gem Apples to use in Super Kirby Clash itself. If you’ve yet to try out Tetris 99, a retail version released earlier this month that includes all DLC along with 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online for $29.99 (USD).
A large update also dropped for Tetris 99 that expanded multiplayer including local co-op, and introduced 10 new themes which players can unlock by earning Tickets. To earn Tickets, Tetris 99 added optional Daily Missions with each Daily Mission awarding 1 Ticket each.
