During your first playthrough of Borderlands 3, you’ll only have Easy and Normal Mode to choose from in terms of difficulty. Don’t worry if you pick one and find it to be too easy as you can adjust the difficulty as needed in Borderlands 3. To adjust the difficulty in Borderlands 3, you’ll need to open the in-game Menu using either View on Xbox One, Options on PlayStation 4, or Escape on PC.

Once you’re in the Menu, navigate to the Gameplay section, then select Difficulty. There, you’ll find all available difficulty settings. Simply select one of these difficulty options, then save and jump back into Borderlands 3. For example, if you picked Easy Mode and feel it’s too easy, you can use the steps above to adjust the difficulty to Normal Mode.

If this is your second playthrough, you should have more difficulty options available to you including Mayhem Mode. By selecting Mayhem Mode, you’ll be able to increase the difficulty and give yourself a more significant challenge than what you experienced on settings like Normal.
