The Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge runs from September 3-10 and sets players a series of objectives to meet over the course of the coming week. If the goals are met, anyone who takes part will earn an extra Menagerie chest each week until Shadowkeep, as well as a tasty Emblem to show off.

So what’s involved? Put simply, the Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge asks player to kill an outrageously high number of enemies. We’re talking millions. Before you cry out that such a task is beyond any mere Guardian, it’s worth noting that you’re not in this alone. The numbers below are to be achieved cumulatively by all players. Any kills you earn that meet the requirements will be added to the entire community total.

To take part in the Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge, you need to work towards any of the following milestones:

  • Defeat 300 million Hive
  • Use 300,000 Override Frequencies
  • Defeat Nokris 150,000 times
  • Defeat Xol 100,000 times
  • Defeat 175,000 Wave 7 bosses in Escalation Protocol

Each of these tasks can be worked towards on Mars or by taking part in Mars Nightfall Strikes, so be prepared to grind these activities and areas pretty hard if you want to help out. The good news? If you haven’t earned it already, you can work towards grabbing the Sleeper Simulant Exotic Fusion Rifle while you’re at it as the quest steps overlap with the challenge.

So now that you know how to take part in the Destiny 2 Mars Community Challenge, quit wasting time and get out there to slay those Hive baddies and bosses! We’re counting on you, Guardian. While you are here though, feel free to browse the rest of our Destiny 2 guides and content.
