Frostpunk brings a chill to consoles this October

Frostpunk's console launch trailer confirms UI changes and more for PS4 and Xbox One release.

Frostpunk is on its way to PS4 and Xbox One to bring a chill to the air this October, with a few UI changes to keep the strategy game flowing.

The gruelling city-builder game, where you protect one of mankind's last surviving outposts in a frozen post-apocalypse, will arrive on consoles on October 11 after a critically acclaimed PC release in April last year.

To go with its console launch, the game has had a few modifications to transfer that strategic flow from mouse and keyboard to gamepads a little easier.

“We wanted Frostpunk to feel like a native console experience, so we redesigned pretty much every game element to work intuitively with a gamepad," says senior lead designer Jakub Stokalski. "Among the new, console-specific UI changes we have an express menu for quick access to most common building actions, easy to use choice-wheels, top-down view for precise building placement, upscaled icons, and much more."

The Frostpunk: Console Edition will sell for $29.99 on October 11 for digital storefronts on PS4 and Xbox One, but a limited physical console release from Merge Games will arrive a week later in Europe, on October 18 for £29.99 or 34.99 Euros, and October 22 in the US at $34.99.
