New Xbox One tech cuts HD space and download times

Intelligent Delivery will save us all.

Microsoft have been silently at work on a new tech overhaul that should drastically cut the size and length of downloads to the Xbox One.

According to Digital Foundry, who have seen documents pertaining to the new tech, Intelligent Delivery will reduce hard drive space and download times by allowing users to only download assets they need rather than a full game package.

This will be welcome news to original Xbox One users who aren’t going to be needing 4K texture packs, but the system will reportedly extend even to other use cases such as multi-disk releases – of which there are currently none on the console.

For a more detailed breakdown of the system and what it can do, head over to Digital Foundry and see their in-depth Intelligent Delivery explanation.
