In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it’s important to learn how to heal your characters during combat. Depending on who you have in your unit and what items you have available in your inventory, there are a few options you can pursue. First, you have the ability to purchase a healing item called Vulnerary from the Marketplace before battle.

To heal, all you need to do is wait for your turn, then select the character you wish to heal. Note that if you’ve already that character in battle, you can’t select them again until the next Player Phase. To heal a character you’ll first need to select them, then select them a second time to open their menu. Select “Items” then choose “Vulnerary” to heal.

What’s nice is about this method is that Vulneraries can be used by any unit type as long as the item is available in their inventory. To help you prepare, we recommend opening the Marketplace tab before battle and purchasing Vulneraries for your units. Other ways to heal in battle include having a character with healing skills in your battalion.

You can use characters like Linhardt to heal other members of your battalion in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

For example, Linhardt of the Black Eagles house has the ability to heal other characters. Keep in mind that characters like Linhardt will need to be within proximity to the character you wish to heal, and you can’t have already used him in battle. If you’ve already used Linhardt, you’ll need to wait until the next Player Phase to use him again.

To use a character’s healing abilities on another character simply select Linhardt then select the character you want Linhardt to heal. Meanwhile, if you have characters with high Faith stats, you’ll be able to use the Assist option to heal characters. All characters have the ability to build their Faith and acquire the Assist option.

If you have a character with Assist available, you’ll need to have that character in proximity to the character you wish to heal. Next, select your character and choose Assist to open your menu of available healing spells. Select one, and you’ll be able to heal the character you chose. There are also healing spells that left you self-heal, saving you the need to use Vulneraries.

Lastly, on the battlefield itself are special tiles to keep an eye out for. If you move a character to stand on restorative terrain such as strongholds or heal tiles that character will heal once at the start of the next turn. Keep in mind that you'll only want to move to these tiles after you've cleared the area of enemies.
