Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a lot more forgiving to newcomers thanks to features like Auto Battle. Rather than manually move each character on the battlefield, you can use Auto Battle and have the computer move all of your characters for a single turn. There’s a few different ways to take advantage of Auto Battle in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

First, because Auto Battle is used on a turn-by-turn basis, you can use Auto Battle selectively to do things like help you get into position, or retreat and regroup. Although, if you’re playing on Casual at a Normal difficulty level, you can feasibly use Auto Battle every turn during battle to help lead you to victory. That said, the computer isn’t flawless so don’t expect it to win every single match for you.

To use Auto Battle for a turn, you’ll want to hover over an empty square on the battlefield and select by tapping “A” to bring up the battle menu. In the menu, scroll down and select the Auto Battle option. Next, you’ll need to choose between four different strategy options which we’ve broken down below.

  • Charge: Units will attack the enemy without relenting.
  • Focus: Units will focus on their individual strengths in approaching the enemy.
  • Fall Back: Units will distance themselves from the enemy and wait.
  • Unite: All units will gather around their leader.

Once you’ve selected from the Auto Battle options above, the computer will proceed to move your characters as needed without you having to do anything. If you made a mistake, you can press the “ZL” button to cancel Auto Battle at any time. If you want to Auto Battle your next turn, you’ll need to repeat the steps above.

Again, we don’t recommend using Auto Battle religiously in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, though it can be a useful tool for things like quickly moving all of your characters in and out of position.
