In Dragon Quest Builders 2, you’ll encounter a lone dog near the Deitree after completing a few opening missions. If you’re wondering whether or not you can pet this dog, the answer is yes, you can. However, the process is a bit more complicated than it first appears. Not only can you pet the dog, you can also befriend her and add her to your party. How to add dog to your party in Dragon Quest Builders 2

As stated above, you’ll spot a cute brown and white dog hanging around the Deitree after you complete a few opening quests in Dragon Quest Builders 2. While the dog will be present at your base, you’ll need to befriend her in order to officially add her to your party. To befriend the dog, you’ll need to find her location in your base (typically around the Deitree).
After spotting the dog, slowly approach them from behind. Gradually inch your way towards the dog so as to not startle her, then when you’re close enough for the prompt to appear, tap A on Nintendo Switch or X on PlayStation 4 to reach out for a quick pet. If you’re successfully able to pet the dog, you’ll befriend her and add her to your party.
If you startle the dog and cause her to run off, try working on another task or two, then return to the Deitree area in your base to look for the dog again. After that, repeat the steps above until you’re able to pet the dog and add her to your party. What’s nice about this little side quest is you get to pet an adorable dog, and when she joins your party, you can give her a custom name!
