Dragon Quest Builders 2 room size, luxury and mood guide

Dragon Quest Builders 2 rooms can be different sizes, luxury ratings and moods, here's how to make them.

In Dragon Quest Builders 2 rooms can be different sizes and moods depending on what you put in them, and earn a luxury rating based on how expensively you've decorated. The ratings aren't explicitly explained in the game, so here's how to make your room different sizes and luxury ratings, as well as what counts for different moods.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 room sizes

As mentioned above, all you need to make an empty room in Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a 2-high wall and a door, however the size of the room can also be a factor in determining that room's purpose. Rooms come in 5 sizes: Very Small (4-15 square blocks), Small (16-35 sq. blocks), Normal (36-63 sq. blocks), Large (64-99 sq. blocks) and Very Large (100-150 sq. blocks). Usually it won't matter how large your room is when you're making one of the Dragon Quest Builders 2 room recipes, as long as it's big enough to fit all the items you need. However there are exceptions to this during Story Mode where NPCs may specify that a room needs to be a certain size.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 room luxury rating

As well as a size indicator, rooms also have a Luxury meter as well which tells you how expensively decorated your new home is. The scale runs from a basic room (no stars) through a star rating system of 1 star, 2 star, 3 star, and when the Luxury meter is filled, you have a 4-star room. Earning a 4-star Luxury room is important for achieving certain challenges for the game's Story Mode chapters, so make sure to fill your rooms with as many high quality decorations, building materials and furniture as you can before finishing a chapter.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 room mood

Rooms in Dragon Quest Builders 2 can also have different moods depending on the types of materials and furniture you put in them. You can check what mood a room has by tapping the touchpad on the Dual Shock controller and bringing up a pie chart which breaks down your room's mood into six categories: Cute (mascot, colored blocks), Cool (metal, shiny blocks), Natural (wood, straw materials), Special (unique blocks), Romantic (heart-themed items), and Standard (basic building blocks, like dirt). Certain characters will appreciate rooms with different moods, try experimenting with them to find one that suits your favorite villager best!
