Story Mode features over 100 different levels and tasks that you’ll need to complete in Super Mario Maker 2. Even after you’ve finished and the credits roll, there’s added incentive to jump back in as you’ll find new secrets and surprises sprinkled throughout Story Mode. For example, after you finish the credits, return to Story Mode and speak with the Taskmaster.

With your job assigned, play through the first level again to unlock the Super Hammer. Keeping the main campaign and post-credit content in mind, we’ve found that it takes around 6 hours to complete Story Mode in Super Mario Maker 2. That said, this number will vary depending on your level of comfort with Super Mario Maker 2, and whether you choose to get 100% completion in Story Mode.

If you want to breeze through the campaign as quickly as possible, you can complete it in as little as 3-4 hours. If you want to do everything there is to do in Story Mode, it can take you up to 10 hours. Again, the number varies depending on who’s playing, and how they’re playing. While you can beat Story Mode in anywhere from 3-10 hours, the average completion time for most (if not all) players is 5-6 hours.

Overall, we recommend Story Mode as it’s a surprisingly fun new addition to Mario Maker. It may not take you too long to complete, but it’s long enough to be worth the inclusion in Super Mario maker 2.
