The Witcher promo images reveal the look for Netflix series

Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer appear in promo shots for the upcoming The Witcher Netflix adaptation.

Promo photos from The Witcher's Netflix adaptation have been released, showing what the cast members will look like in the TV series based on the books by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski.

The shots have arrived courtesy of TV producer, and shorunner on The Witcher project, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich who has previously written scripts for The West Wing and Justice.

Henry Cavill is looking mighty fine as Geralt himself and other production photos show Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and sadly missing from the deluge of promo pics is Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold.

The series is set for a Fall 2019 release window, though some previous sources have suggested that it could be closer to a December debut.

Tomas Baginski – director of the intro videos for all three Witcher titles, as well as the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer – will direct at least one episode per season, and with eight episodes to look forward to for the first season we're excited to see his impact on production, too.

Executive producers Jason Brown and Sean Daniel gave fans a taste of what The Witcher's Netflix adaptation will be like in their introductory interview, announcing the series.

“The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world," the pair said. "The characters are original, funny, and constantly surprising, and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

The current synopsis is light on details to say exactly which of Sapkowski's books it will draw inspiration from, with the description reading: “When destiny hurtles [Geralt] toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile continent together."

We're convinced the most likely candidate is The Last Wish, which is comprised of several short stories all set within the Witcher universe that follow the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. If you're looking for a good book, we definitely recommend grabbing a copy and giving it a read
