The command inputs for Super Special Moves are the same across all characters in Samurai Shodown, so you don’t need to worry about learning a new one for each. To perform a super special move, you need to hit forwards, then trace a half circle around the bottom to backwards before hitting forwards again and then the Heavy Attack and Kick buttons together. The final part can be done by pressing R2 or Circle+X on PS4, and by pressing RB or B+A on Xbox One. The full input is as follows (assuming your character is on the left):

  • ➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️➡️ + R2/RB (or Heavy Attack and Kick together)

If you pull this off successfully your character will kick off a cutscene in which they lunge forward for an attack. For more characters, you need to be pretty close and catch your opponent when they aren’t blocking. Others like Tam Tam perform a jumping grab at a set distance, so make sure you practice the range for your chosen character’s Super Special Move!

Most Super Special Moves can be blocked by holding backwards, and leave you very open if they don’t succeed. For this reason, it’s extremely important to learn when you can land your strike. Some characters can combo into their Super Special Move, but most will need to wait for their opponent to whiff a heavy attack or special move, leaving them vulnerable. If you learn the openings, a Super Special move can turn the tide of a match or secure your victory! Which is your favorite Super Special Move? Let us know in the comments below!
