As you play Harry Potter Wizards Unite, you’ll eventually collect a Portkey. Upon collecting a Portkey, it will be added to your Suitcase. Similar to how Eggs work in Pokemon GO, Portkeys require a bit of legwork in order to open. Specifically, you’ll need a Gold or Silver Key and some time to walk the required distance. Confused? How to open Portkeys in Harry Potter Wizards Unite

As stated above, Portkeys in Harry Potter Wizards Unite work similarly to Eggs in Pokemon GO. Portkeys can be collected as you play the game and once collected are added to your Suitcase. To view the Portkeys you’ve collected, tap the Suitcase icon at the bottom of your Home screen. In your Suitcase, tap the Portkey icon to view your inventory of Portkeys.
To use Portkeys, you’ll need to open them. You can open a Portkey with either a Gold or Silver Key with Gold Keys having infinite uses, and Silver Keys breaking after two uses. Again, the system is similar to Eggs in Pokemon GO where you need Incubators in order to open them. You can purchase additional Silver Keys in the Diagon Alley Show in exchange for Gold.
A single Silver Key will cost you 90 Gold while a pack of 4 Silver Keys will set you back 325 Gold. Once you’ve used one of your available Keys on your Portkey, you’ll also need to walk the required distance in order to open it. There are three distances for Portkeys in Harry Potter Wizards Unite: 2km, 5km, and 10km. In our screenshot, we’re currently working on opening a Portkey with a 2km distance attached.
Once the 2km distance has been walked, the Portkey will open. In the description, you can expect the following once your Portkey has been opened: “Use a Key on a Portmanteau, then start walking to unlock it. When it opens, it will reveal a Portkey that can transport you magically to a Waypoint - a special location in the wizarding world, where Calamity magic has been detected.”
