Remnant: From the Ashes is Dark Souls with guns, coming in August

Remnant will let you and a couple of friends die over and over fighting a massive tree. With guns this time.

We know it's a cliché to compare every hard game with dark atmosphere to Dark Souls, but Remnant: From the Ashes has the same feel and it was just shown off at E3 2019 with a thousand other games and we're low on time. It comes out August 20, 2019.

It sounded as if it had a few more things in common, boss fights that require patience and pattern recognition, and a fully open world with rich lore that can be explored in multiple different orders to compare with your friends.

Speaking of friends, you can play in co-op for the entire game, while your mates shoot at whatever ugly boss you've been stuck on for the last fortnight.

"One of the coolest features of the game is the dynamic generation system," said Gunfire Games CEO David Adams on stage at the PC Gaming show at E3 2019. "We generated the map, the enemies, the quests, the NPCs, bosses, everything. It's all hand scripted but the but the system takes all the pieces and stiches them together."

So there'll be plenty of options for you to follow when Remnant: From the Ashes releases on August 20, 2019.
