New Pokemon HOME cloud service announced

A new cloud service will be available in early 2020, connecting Pokemon Trainers all over the globe.

During the Pokemon Press Conference on May 28, a new cloud service was announced called Pokemon HOME, alongside a nod to Pokemon Bank for 3DS users. The service will connect Trainers to their Pokemon, and to other Pokemon Trainers, on iOS and Android devices. Pokemon HOME will be available across multiple titles including Pokemon GO, Pokemon Let’s Go, and the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Arguably one of the most exciting announcements made during the Pokemon Press Conference was for Pokemon HOME, a brand new cloud storage service for Pokemon Trainers. Think of Pokemon HOME like your PC in the early games, except far more advanced and connected to multiple games and devices all at once.

Pokemon HOME will be available on iOS and Android devices, and will offer a trade functionality where you can even swap Pokemon with users online. Supported devices also include Nintendo Switch, with confirmation that Pokemon HOME will work in conjunction with Pokemon Sword and Shield.

3DS users aren’t being left out, as Pokemon Bank will also be able to take advantage of Pokemon HOME services, such as transferring Pokemon from Bank to HOME. As of right now, Pokemon HOME is slated for an early 2020 release date, meaning gamers won’t have to wait too long to try it out.

The Pokemon Company confirmed that more information will be released in the future, and we look forward to learning how we can sign up for Pokemon HOME, and whether or not there will be a subscription fee. After learning about Pokemon HOME, what are your thoughts? Are you excited to use a cloud storage service in conjunction with Pokemon GO, Let’s Go, as well as Sword and Shield?
