Zelda: Breath of the Wild The Champions' Ballad guide

Starting the DLC and how to get the Master Cycle Zero.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild had a great night at The Game Awards 2017, taking game of the year and also releasing its story expansion the Champions' Ballad live on stage.

The second expansion pack for Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a story extension, offering a whole new quest path for Link to conquer and a motorbike, the Master Cycle Zero, to unlock.

Like the first expansion pack for Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the new content is hidden behind a new interaction somewhere in Hyrule so here's how to get into the new story.

How to start Breath of the Wild The Champions' Ballad DLC

To begin the next chapter of Link's story, you don't need to have completed the game by defeating Ganon, but you do have to defeat all four of the Divine Beasts. When the final Divine Beast is completed, you'll hear Zelda telepath her way into Link's head to tell him to return to the Shrine of Resurrection on the Great Plateau. This is where Link woke up at the beginning of the game and first received the Sheikah Slate.

To begin the DLC quest, interact with the same plinth where you got the Sheikah Slate from and you'll be gifted the One-Hit Obliterator weapon and told to take out four monster camps throughout Hyrule. Seems easy right? Well, you're also knocked down to a quarter-heart of health, so you'll also die in one hit. Good luck!

How to get the Master Cycle Zero motorbike

You might have seen that Link was riding around on a motorbike during the Champions' Ballad release trailer, and you definitely want to get your hands on that right? Well, the Champions' Ballad DLC quest mentions that you'll "master a Divine Beast" by defeating those four monster camps, and guess what the Master Cycle Zero is? Yep, it's your very own Divine Beast, so to earn it you must complete the Champions' Ballad DLC quest. Simple enough, but that quarter-heart health is going to make that pretty tricky. We'll help you out with how to complete the Champions' Ballad DLC quest as soon as we've managed it ourselves.
