Mortal Kombat 11 offers different forms of currency including Koins, Time Krystals, and Hearts, with the ways you can earn more of these items varying depending on how you choose to play the game. While many of the ways in which you earn these forms of currency are similar, it can be worth changing up your strategy depending on which currency you wish to focus on.
Need more Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11? We’ve got you covered! Below, we’ve put together a comprehensive guide explaining how to earn more Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11.
How to Earn More Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11
In Mortal Kombat 11, Hearts are a rare form of currency. While it can be easy to earn things like Koins, earning Hearts is a bit more complex and time-consuming. In order to maximize your yield of Hearts while playing Mortal Kombat 11, there are a few key areas you’ll need to focus on. For example, you can earn Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11 by learning how to boost your Performance Rewards per fight.
Every time you engage in a fight whether it be against AI or real opponents, you’ll earn Performance Rewards. The better you perform in a fight, the more Performance Rewards you’ll receive. To increase the Hearts you earn as Performance Rewards, you’ll want to learn how to properly execute Fatalities.
To do this, keep an eye out for the “Finish Him/Her” prompt which appears at the end of a match after you’ve whittled down your opponent’s health. This prompt indicates you can unleash a Fatality to end the match. If you’re uncertain about the buttons needed to unleash your selected character’s Fatality, you can pause against AI using Options on PS4 or Menu on Xbox One.
Sadly, you can’t pause in a live match against real opponents, but if you’re working your way through the Towers of Time, the pause option should be available. From the pause menu, you can cycle through your character’s moves and view the buttons (and range) of your character’s Fatality.
Brutalities award even more Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11, with the same rules applying in terms of being able to pause (when you’re not in a live fight) and finding the correct buttons to unleash your character’s Brutality. As long as you remember to use Brutalities and Fatalities in fights, you’ll significantly increase the amount of Hearts you earn as Performance Rewards.
Other ways to earn Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11 include exploring the Krypt and opening Chests, as well as using Scorpion’s Spear to whack down corpses that are hanging around, though this is a much slower process. This method also requires you to focus on earning enough Koins to open these Chests in the first place.
When running through activities like the Towers of Time, you can earn both Koins and Hearts (as Performance Rewards from fights). And for us, the Towers of Time serves as the best spot to farm for Hearts. This is because we’re able to earn Performance Rewards per fight, along with rewards for completing the Towers of Time which include Koins needed to open up Chests in the Krypt.
The more Koins you have, the more Chests you’ll be able to open in the Krypt. Keep in mind that the more valuable (and rare) Chests within the Krypt will naturally have a better chance at dropping Hearts than a cheap Chest. Short on time? You can also have your AI run through the Towers of Time in your place, though you won’t have as much control over the sort of Performance Rewards they earn.
To recap, you can earn Hearts in Mortal Kombat 11 the following ways...
- Performance Rewards (use Brutalities and Fatalities to increase)
- Opening Chests in the Krypt (the rarer the Chest, the better the drop chance for Hearts)
- Swatting down bodies using Scorpion's Spear in the Krypt
