Mortal Kombat 11 has a huge tier list of characters ranging in skill from pretty good to absolutely brutal and overpowered. For new Mortal Kombat 11 players, or those wondering which characters to try out first, having a full tier list available can provide an extremely useful point of reference. While Mortal Kombat 11 is still relatively new, there’s enough information available to put together a starting tier list that should satisfy gamers of all skill levels. Below, you’ll find our complete Mortal Kombat 11 tier list with all characters ranked from best (S Tier) to worst (E Tier).

Note: We’ll be updating this tier list as more information becomes available through tournament play, along with any buffs and/or nerfs that are made via future Mortal Kombat 11 patches. We've made some changes following the results of Combo Breaker 2019 and the opinions of pro players like SonicFox to reflect certain characters' tournament success.

Mortal Kombat 11 - Tier List

Seeing as how Mortal Kombat 11 only just released, we still have quite a ways to go before we can say definitively which characters are the best, and which are the worst.

As such, you should take all tier lists (including ours) with a grain of salt. Over the next few months, these characters will continue to be thoroughly tested so as to establish their real value.

That said, there will always be characters that perform better than others at launch, hence our placement of certain Mortal Kombat 11 fighters at a higher rank than others.

The Best Characters in Mortal Kombat 11

Right now, the top characters in Mortal Kombat 11 appear to be Cassie Cage, Sonya Blade, Jacqui Briggs and Erron Black. This is followed by Scorpion, Geras, Liu Kang and Cetrion. We've based these choices off the views of pro players like SonicFox and REO, the results of Combobreaker 2019, and our own experience.

At the bottom, you’ll find characters like Kotal Kahn and Shao Kahn, though this placement doesn’t mean they aren’t viable in combat. Instead, it simply means that their value and style is a bit more limited. We're hopeful players will find how to use them or they'll get buffs to bring them up to the same level as the rest of the cast soon.

As noted above, this list is early and will likely change following feedback from tournament play. If you're simply looking for a character to start with, you really can't go wrong with Scorpion in our opinion.
